Being a breast cancer survivor I am passionate about promoting breast cancer awareness especially among ethnic minority groups therefore I found this project interesting as well as challenging. It was exciting to research a subject I want to know more about. I struggled with creating the website as this was very new to me and my computer skills are limited. However, I feel I have learned a good skill which I can use in the future.
In Kenya, despite breast cancer being a burden to many, there is very little research due to inadequate funding and limited training facilities (18).
In conclusion, future breast cancer work in developing countries such as Kenya should include: development of training models that can be translated into several languages and applied to diverse cultural settings, and establishment of centres of excellence (8). There is also a need for education. High school students, especially girls, should undergo a short informative course which will teach them not only about breast cancer, but also about potentially modifiable risk factors.
